Duterte gets 85% approval, trust ratings —Pulse Asia

President Rodrigo Duterte is the most trusted top government official in the country, results of a nationwide survey conducted by Pulse Asia last June showed.

Duterte enjoys both trust and approval ratings of 85%, according to The Performance and Trust Ratings of the Top Philippine Government Officials conducted by the pollster from June 24 to 30.

Only 3% of the respondents said they disapproved of his work, and 11% were undecided.

The survey also showed the majority of Filipinos continued to approve of the performances of Vice President Leni Robredo (55%) and Senate President Vicente Sotto III (77%).

Duterte and Sotto got the lowest disapproval ratings of 3% and 7%, respectively, as well as the lowest indecision ratings of 11% and 16%, respectively.

Meanwhile, nearly half of Filipino adults, or 47 percent, disapproved of the performances of House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The former President acquired the lowest approval rating of 26%, and 49% of the respondents expressed “small/no trust” in her leadership.

For Supreme Court Justice Lucas Bersamin, the survey results showed that 41 percent were “appreciative of or undecided about his performance.”

The June survey used face to face interviews with 1,200 respondents 18 years old and above.

Pulse Asia said it has a 95-percent confidence level in this survey, with a ± 2.8% error margin.

News developments noted by Pulse Asia for this period include the reported ramming of a Filipino fishing boat in the Recto Bank by a Chinese vessel that left 22 Pinoy fishermen overboard for several hours before a Vietnamese fishing vessel came to the rescue.

The government filed a diplomatic protest concerning the Recto Bank incident before the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on June 12, whereas Duterte accepted China's proposal to conduct a joint investigation into the boat-ramming incident. —VDS/KG, GMA News
