Duterte appoints fellow Bedan Malcontento as prosecutor general

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Benedicto Malcontento as Prosecutor General of the National Prosecution Service, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed to GMA News Online on Friday night.

Malcontento, like Duterte, graduated from the San Beda College of Law.  He joins other San Beda alumni who were appointed by the president to key posts in government.

Malcontento, a partner at the Kho Malcontento and Associates Law Offices, will replace Victor Sepulveda.

The NPS is mandated to assist the Secretary of Justice in the performance of powers and functions of the Department relative to its role as the prosecution arm of the government, particularly the investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses. —LDF, GMA News
