Navy opens BRP Emilio Jacinto to public ahead of 121st anniversary

The Philippine Navy held various activities over the weekend as a prelude to the celebration of its 121st anniversary later this month.

According to a report by Vonne Aquino in GMA News TV's Balitanghali on Monday, the Philippine Navy's headquarters in Manila opened its doors to the public on Saturday.

The visitors were toured inside the BRP Emilio Jacinto—its patrol ship in the West Philippine Sea.

Other assets such as the helicopter and patrol boat light of the Naval Special Operations Group were also displayed.

Meanwhile, hundreds of sailors, their families and friends, and other volunteers took part in a fun run which aims to support the marines deployed in the West Philippine Sea.

This was held in partnership with the Citizen’s Support Your Navy Foundation Philippines, Inc. (CSYNFI).

"We actually support them through food supply, solar equipment and at the same time communications for them para sa kanilang pamilya," said Czarina Baltao, executive director of CSYNFI. —Dona Magsino/NB, GMA News
