Candidate edges incumbent mayor by just one vote in San Isidro, Leyte

In what could be the tightest local elections this year, the winning candidate for mayor in San Isidro, Leyte edged out incumbent Mayor Susan Ang by just one vote.

According to a report on "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho", Ang would no longer contest her defeat for peace and order to immediately return to their town.

"I truly love San Isidro," Ang said.

A municipal employee was killed when Ang's house was strafed on May 8.

Remedio Veloso, the winning candidate, is the chairman of Barangay Puntabaha.

Veloso got 8,829 votes while Ang received 8,828. —NB, GMA News
