Comelec sets probe on burnt counting machines, poll paraphernalia

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will probe the reported burning of a Vote Counting Machine and other election paraphernalia which were on its way of being transported to Jones, Isabela on Tuesday morning.

Abas was referring to reports that the damaged election paraphernalia include 200 ballots yet to be counted from Barangays Dicamay 1 and Dicamay 2, Jones, Isabela.

“Paiimbestigahan natin ‘yan,” Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas told reporters.

“Patitignan natin [anong nangyari,” Abas added.

The Comelec has declared over 1,196 election hotspots across the country based on Comelec en banc Resolution No. 10531.

The inclusion of these hotspots was recommended by the Committee on the Ban on Firearms and Security Personnel "taking into account the official reports from all regional joint security control centers."

Three other areas, on the other hand, remain under Comelec control —Daraga City, Albay, Cotabato City and Moises Padilla town in Negros Occidental. — MDM, GMA News
