PNP conducts early morning security sweep at the PICC

A security sweep was conducted at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) early Monday morning a few hours before polling precincts open, GMA News' Tina Panganiban-Perez reported.

The area would be the site where the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc will convene as the NAtional Board of Canvassers.

There are more than 61 million voters expected to troop to polling precincts on Monday for the 2019 national and local elections.

A total of 43,554 national and local candidates are vying for 18,071 positions in this year's elections, according to data from the Comelec. — BAP, GMA News
