Kris Aquino hits Roxas camp over 'Batman-Robin' quip involving Noy
Kris Aquino has hit out at the camp of Mar Roxas over comments supposedly blaming her brother, former President Benigno Aquino III, for the Liberal Party standard-bearer's loss in the 2016 presidential race.
This after Caloocan representative Edgar Erice, Roxas' campaign manager, reportedly said it was a mistake to let the former senator be the "Robin" to the "Batman" of former President Benigno Aquino III.
Roxas wore yellow in the 2016 campaign — colors identified with the Aquino family — but now wears blue, his original campaign color.
In a now deleted Instagram post, Kris alluded to the comments without naming Roxas.
"Really - to blame his loss on my brother? So pati ba pagkatalo sa 2010 kasalanan din ni Noy?" said the actress and television host.
In an interview with 24 Oras, Erice said he was not blaming anyone with the comments.
"Idea ko lang naman 'yon. That's my point of view sa mga nangyari nung nakaraan," he said. "We are not blaming anybody. I'm very close to President Aquino. We're in constant communication."
In a text message, the former president declined to respond to the issue.
Erice said Roxas and Aquino remain on good terms. He also said there is no rift among Ocho Diretso candidates.
"Wala. Walang infighting. We are solid. We remain committed to our principles, core values of the Liberal Party," he said.
During a campaign rally in Bataan, Roxas also denied friction among opposition bets when he was asked by local media.
"Kayo lang sa media nag-iisip nun. Siguro naghahanap kayo ng pasabong e," he said. —Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
