Catriona Gray pays courtesy call on VP Leni

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on Vice President Leni Robredo at the Quezon City Reception House.

A short program and a video presentation was held by the Office of the Vice President to express gratitude to Catriona for giving pride to the Philippines.

“This is our opportunity to tell you how proud you made all of us, not just because you won the crown but with how you represented the best of  Filipinos,” Robredo said.

“We want to thank you for giving us this honor... for giving us to be united again as one people,” she added.

The Vice President also hailed the beauty queen for her advocacy for children.

She also handed a yellow malong to Catriona, noting that the beauty queen has been showing her love for local fabrics by wearing indigenous Philippine textiles in her events.

"Alam ko na during the pageant, you exhibited many of our textiles... what we'll be presenting to you this morning is one of the products of our communities from Marawi City. It's a malong with Maranao origins," Robredo said.

In her message during the courtesy call, Catriona encouraged Filipinos to make small contributions to their community as these can "make big difference when put together."

"If we just look in your life and your community... you can give back in the small way, it matters," Catriona said.

She again thanked Filipino citizens for supporting her and her endeavors. —KBK, GMA News
