Replicas of the Black Nazarene occupy Quiapo for blessing

Two days before the Feast of the Black Nazarene, devotees brought replicas of the miraculous image of Jesus Christ in front of Quiapo church in Manila to receive the blessing of the priests.

In the video captured by Super Radyo dzBB's reporter Carlo Mateo, the big replicas lined up along Quezon Boulevard.

Some were loaded on mini-trucks as devotees designed the floats of the replicas with various ornaments.

On Monday afternoon, hundreds of replicas were blessed with holy water as they passed under the footbridge where the priests stood.

Some replicas that were brought even came from as far as Bataan, Cavite, and Pampanga.

Other smaller replicas were carried by their owners as they lively chanted "Viva Señor Jesus Nazareno! Viva!"

Around 300,000 to 500,000 devotee turnout was expected in the event, according to a separate report by Jun Veneracion on "Balitanghali."

The procession of the replicas, which was supposed to be a prelude to the Traslacion 2019, was cancelled by its organizers. —Dona Magsino/ LDF, GMA News
