CA panel OKs Locsin appointment as DFA secretary

The Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday approved in the committee level the appointment of Teodoro Locsin Jr. as secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The CA's foreign affairs committee recommended the confirmation of Locsin on the plenary that will be conducted later in the day.

President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Locsin DFA secretary in October, replacing Alan Peter Cayetano who is running for Taguig City representative in the 2019 elections.

Prior to his appointment, Locsin served as Philippine Ambassador to the United Nations. He is a lawyer, a former journalist, and was the representative of the First District of Makati from 2001 to 2010. —KBK, GMA News
