PNP warns robbery and theft cases up during 'Ber' months

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said most of the crimes committed during the Christmas season are robbery and theft, Oscar Oida reported on Saksi.

"Meron 'yung iba maghihintay lang mag-aabang ng pagkakataon. Tayo naman ang gawin natin, huwag natin sila bigyan ng pagkakataon," said NCRPO Chief Director Guillermo Eleazar.

In Quezon City, a robbery incident was recorded by a CCTV camera.

The footage shows the suspect onboard a motorcycle in the act of grabbing the cellphone of a female pedestrian.

The suspect was arrested and officials found that he has committed the same crime several times.

According to the 2017 data of the NCRPO, the areas with the most number of crimes at the start of the 'Ber' months are: Pasig, Makati, Caloocan, Mandaluyong, and Valenzuela.

This data, however, should not be a reason for the police force to be complacent. — BAP, GMA News
