No drug raid in schools, universities sans coordination —PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will not conduct drug buy-bust operations in schools and universities without coordinating with their officials, PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said on Monday.

“We will not come in come in na parang mag-coconduct ng buy-bust. No, we will not do that. We will surely coordinate with the faculty, administrator, or sa mga security managers nila sa mga different schools,” Albayalde told reporters.

“Rest assured, there will be no human rights violations. We will follow rule of law and observe human rights. The respect for human rights is deeply embedded in the system of the PNP,” he added.

Albayalde, however, admitted that the PNP had yet to receive reports of schools being used for illegal drug transactions and other related activities.

“The conduct of operation will be based on the information that we will be receiving," Albayalde said.

"Kapag wala naman tayong makukuha na information that there is illegal activity going on in the university, then wala naman tayo sigurong dahilan para mag operate doon sa school na 'yun,” he added.

“Sa ngayon, wala kaming nakukuha [na information of illegal activities in schools],” Albayalde said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/NB, GMA News
