JV Ejercito mulls using JV Estrada as nickname in COC

Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito said Thursday he is mulling using “JV Estrada” as his nickname when he files his certificate of candidacy for another six years in the Senate next week.

Ejercito said this is to show his father, former President and incumbent Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, that he, as his son, is not abandoning him after leaving his father’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino.

“I might use JV Estrada, wala akong balak na tumiwalag sa pangalan. Ayoko naman yung lumalabas at pinalalabas na pinuputol ko ang relasyon sa aking ama. Para ipakita na hindi ako titiwalag, I might use Estrada as a nickname,” he said during the weekly forum Kapihan sa Senado.

He admitted that his father was cold to him after he transferred to the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

“Kagabi nagkita kami sa dinner para sa Senate anniversary, nag-kiss ako sa kanya pero hindi kami nag-usap. Definitely (nagtampo siya),” he said.

He expressed hope his father would understand his decision to leave PMP because he does not want siblings to run under one party.

He added he worked hard to keep his name clean.

“Sana proud siya sa akin na I did my best to keep my name clean,” he said. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
