Security at Makati City Hall tightens ahead of court ruling on Trillanes case

Authorities tightened security at the Makati City Hall early Friday morning in anticipation of the expected court ruling on the Justice Department's motion for the issuance of arrest and hold departure orders on Senator Antonio Trillanes IV in connection with the  revived coup d'etat case against him.

GMA News' Mark Makalalad reported on Super Radyo dzBB's "Dobol B sa News TV" that Makati City Hall authorities issued guidelines for the security and order at the Regional Trial Court Branch 148, which is hearing the Department of Justice (DOJ) motion stemming from President Rodrigo Duterte's proclamation voiding the amnesty granted to Trillanes in 2011.

Makalalad said that security guidelines were to be enforced starting 8:30 a.m.

Only one representative from each media organization is allowed inside the RTC 148 courtroom on the 14th Floor of the Makati City Hall Building.

Security personnel have been stationed at the entrance and exit points of the building and police contingents have been stationed at the Old Makati City Hall area.

Makati RTC 148 is expected to issue a ruling on DOJ's motion this Friday after it deferred its decision earlier.

Early last week, the Makati RTC Branch 150 ordered the arrest of Trillanes for the rebellion case. The senator was able to post bail of P200,000 for his temporary freedom.

But Trillanes might be arrested anytime if RTC 148 issues an order for his arrest for coup d'etat, which is a non-bailable case.

The rebellion and coup cases against the senator have been revived after President Duterte issued Proclamation 572 nullifying the amnesty given to him for his involvement in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny and the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege. —LBG, GMA News
