Comelec releases calendar for May 2019 election period
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday released the official calendar of activities for the upcoming national and local elections.
Based on a statement released by the Comelec, the following schedule will be followed leading up to the May 13, 2018 polls:
- October 11-12, 2018; October 15-17, 2018 - Filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC)
- January 13, 2019 to June 12, 2019 - Election period, gun ban
- February 12, 2019 to May 11, 2019 - Campaign period for senators and party-list groups
- March 28 and 29, 2019 - Campaign ban
- March 30, 2019 to May 11, 2019 - Campaign period for members of the House of Representatives and regional, provincial, city, and municipal officials
- May 12 to 13, 2019 - Campaign, liquor ban
- May 13, 2019 - Election day
- June 12, 2019 - Deadline for filing of Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE)
Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, however, fall on April 18 and 19, respectively, and not on March 28 and 29 as indicated in the Comelec statement.
