Bertiz files reso to have himself probed over NAIA incident
ACTS OFW party-list Representative John Bertiz III has filed a resolution seeking inquiry into the incident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) that involved him.
In House Resolution 2212, filed on Tuesday, Bertiz urged the Committee on Ethics to probe the incident at NAIA Terminal 2 that happened last Saturday involving the "undersigned member of the House of Representatives," referring to himself, and the security personnel of the airport.
Bertiz drew flak from netizens after CCTV footage of his argument with a NAIA security checker went viral.
He, however, claimed that the story behind the video post was twisted, saying that he only called out the security checker in the video for supposedly allowing some "Chinese-looking" individuals escorted by NAIA staff to skirt security check.
Bertiz likewise said he submitted himself to security check, except that he did not take off his shoes because he was not asked to do so.
The lawmaker has already apologized for his behavior. "I offer no excuse. I am sincerely sorry for my actions,” he said.
But he said he is ready to undergo any investigation in relation to the viral incident.
"I'm very much willing to submit myself to any investigation just to be fair to the public," Bertiz said.
The Committee on Ethics is set to meet on Wednesday afternoon to discuss, among others, the incident at NAIA involving Bertiz. —KBK/KG, GMA News
