Jose Rizal is the precursor of Asian Renaissance, says Malaysian PM-in-waiting

Former Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and premier-in-waiting Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim praised Philippine national hero Jose Rizal, describing him as the precursor of the “Asian Renaissance.”

“Jose Rizal is not only the greatest Malay but also the precursor of the Asian Renaissance,” Ibrahim said during the Management Association of the Philippines 2018 CEO Forum in Makati City.

“He was championing values in a period where people seemed to be resigned to the fact that you cannot change colonial rule because it would be too costly,” he said.

The anointed successor of Malaysian Prime Minister Mahatir Mohamad said Rizal’s Mi Ultimo Adios is a “source of conviction and belief.” —VDS, GMA News
