Sara Duterte says Hugpong ng Pagbabago will not be a threat to national parties

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), will not be a threat to national political parties.

"Hugpong ng Pagbabago is a regional political party so 'yun talaga 'yung intention namin, which is to strengthen Region 11," she said on Friday following the mass oath-taking of over 6,000 local officials in Davao City.

Last week, the HNP signed a coalition agreement with three parties — the Nacionalista Party, the Nationalist People's Coalition and the National Unity Party.

A report by GMA News' Victoria Tulad on Unang Balita on Monday said Sara Duterte, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, is firm on not running for senator in next year's elections.

"Definitely I will not run for senator in the 2019 elections," she said.

At present, HNP has no plans to enter into a coalition agreement with PDP-Laban, President Duterte's party.

Duterte, for his part, said he is not interested in joining another party. —KBK, GMA News
