Ozamiz police chief Espenido barred from entering Ardot Parojinog holding cell

Ozamiz City police head Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido was barred on Tuesday from entering the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame where Ozamiz City Councilor Ardot Parojinog is being detained.

In a video posted by Super Radyo dzBB reporter Jonathan Andal on Twitter, Espenido was seen held outside the guardhouse leading to the PNP Custodial Center.

Espenido served the search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in a predawn police raid on July 2017 at a compound owned by the Parojinog family.

More than 10 people, including Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, were killed in the raid that uncovered several high-powered firearms.

Raids led by Espenido on closed businesses owned by Councilor Ardot Parojinog had also yielded anti-tank rockets, two rocket-propelled grenades, three rifle grenades, 15 12-gauge shotguns, 18 9mm firearms, eight .38 revolvers, and an M16 rifle.

Ardot Parojinog was arrested in Taiwan and was repatriated Friday last week. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
