Bangsamoro Organic Law (Republic Act 11054)

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, July 26, signed the Bangsamoro Organic Law (Republic Act 11054), capping years of negotiations with the Moro rebels and deliberations in the legislative mill. 

Duterte had been pushing for the enactment of the BOL, which aims to end decades of conflict in Mindanao by creating a political entity that would enjoy greater autonomy than the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The President made this clear in his third State of the Nation Address on Monday during which he pledged that his administration "will never deny our Muslim brothers and sisters the basic legal tools to chart their own destiny within the constitutional framework of our country."
