Sharon’s brother Chet running for Pasay mayor, Kiko respects in-law’s inclusion in Duterte team
The brother of Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Cesar "Chet" Cuneta, will run for mayor of Pasay City in the 2019 elections.
Her husband, opposition leader Senator Francis Pangilinan said he respected his brother-in-law's decision to run for mayor under the President Rodrigo Duterte's slate.
In an Instagram post on Monday, the singer-actress expressed her support to her brother who eyes to continue the political legacy of their father, Pablo: "This morning, I proudly accompanied my brother Chet as he registered at the Comelec. It took us many, many heart-to-heart talks throughout some time to finally come to this decision."

"Cesar 'Chet' Cuneta is running for Mayor of Pasay City. I pray that if you are living in Pasay and reading this, I pray that God touch your heart and support him in these coming elections," Sharon said.
"He will make sure na ang lahat ng kikitain ng Pasay ay mapupunta sa pagpaganda, pagpapaunlad ng Pasay, at sa mga TAO NG PASAY. AKO MISMO AY KASAMA NIYANG MAGBABANTAY," she added.
Sharon said her brother was giving up 32 years of being a pilot to serve the residents of Pasay City.
"We may not see eye to eye with how we regard the current administration but I respect his decision to run for Pasay City mayor as part of the administration ticket. I wish him well," Pangilinan said in a statement.
The senator vowed to remain committed to his obligation to act as a "check and balance to the administration."
"We will continue to speak out and remain critical of policies we believe are detrimental to the national interest such as EJKs (extrajudicial killings) and the abuses committed in the drug war, corruption in government, and the pivot to China, among others," Pangilinan said.
