President Rodrigo Duterte has formally appointed retired Philippine National Police chief Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa and former Armed Forces chief Rey Leonardo Guerrero to new government posts.
Dela Rosa is the new director general of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) while Guerrero will serve as administrator of the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) until July 2022, according to appointment papers released by Malacañang on Thursday.
Duterte also named Valfrie Tabian, a retired police official, as BuCor deputy director.

An attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ), the BuCor is mandated to supervise the country's penal colonies including the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) from where gang leaders allegedly conduct drug transactions.
Marina, on the other hand, regulates shipping activities in the country.
Prior to bowing out of uniformed service, Duterte had extended the tour of duty of Dela Rosa and Guerrero by a few months. —KBK, GMA News
