A policewoman who hails from Zamboanga del Norte was crowned “Ms. PNP Ganda Pulis 2018,” besting 25 other candidates.

Aside from winning the most coveted title, Ms. PNP Ganda Pulis 2018, Police Officer 1 Madonna Gay Cajocon of the Police Regional Office 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) also bagged a number of special awards including Best in Ethnic Costume, Ms. Mac Cosmetics, Ms. MX3, Best in Resorts Wear, Best in Long Gown, and Ms. Above Aesthetics wherein she received P50,000 worth of products.

The grand finals and coronation night was held on Monday night at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center in Camp Crame.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, Cajocon said her advocacy as the newly-crowned Ms. PNP Ganda Pulis 2018 is “peace building and counter-radicalization against terrorism.”

Cajocon said she has learned so much from joining the pageant especially during their community outreach visits to the reformation center, "Bahay Pagbabago.”

“Actually hindi ko po inexpect talaga na manalo pero nagpapasalamat po ako at I know na marami po akong matutunan pa beside sa mga natutunan nung past two weeks na activity namin,” Cajocon said.

“Parang nakakataba po ng puso na umiikot kami, nakikita po namin yung mga reformist po na talagang natututo sila sa loob ng Bahay Pagbabago and alam ko po na marami pa po kaming mabibisita in my term po and sana po through this program po marami po kaming matutulungan pa,” she added.

Cajocon, who has been in the police force for two years and six months is assigned in the Regional Mobile Force Battalion in Zamboanga Peninsula. She has an undergraduate degree of Bachelor of Science in Criminology.

“Sobrang opposite po na nagco-combat kami tapos dito sa training namin dito sa pageant, naghi-heels kami ng 6 inches so imagine po yung challenge po namin,” she said.

Other Mindanaoan beauties have bagged major awards including PO1 Cris Pastores of PRO ARMM who was awarded as Ms. Makatao and Police Officer 2 May Shell Oro of PRO 10 (Northern Mindanao) who won as Ms. Maka-Diyos.

Pastores also won other special awards namely, Ms. Photogenic, Best in Advocacy and People’s Choice Award.

Oro, meanwhile, said that she is grateful that their region was given a chance to be represented in the pageant.

“I'm very happy na makita yung mga tao during our advocacy tour that we're able to inspire illegal drug surrenderees na hindi lang tour ‘yun para makita yung situation nila but we're able to give them also advice,” she said.

“Especially ako ay may relatives po ako na illegal drug surrenderees din, so mismong experience ko nakapag-inspire din ako and then nakita din namin na itong programang ito, malaki siyang tulong sa tulad nila na nagvolunteer na isubmit yung self nila sa government [para] makabalik sa community and to become reproductive citizen,” she added.
