Ex-VP Binay, son post bail in new graft, falsification raps

Former Vice President Jejomar Binay and his son on Monday posted bail before the Sandiganbayan in connection with new graft and falsification charges filed against them by the Office of the Ombudsman.

A Super Radyo dzBB report said Binay and his son, former Makati City mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr., each posted P192,000 bail before the Sandiganbayan's Fifth Division.

The two Binays are facing four counts of graft and three counts of falsification of public documents over the allegedly anomalous P1.3-billion Makati Science High School.

They are accused of rigging the bidding process of the 10-storey school building.

The former vice president and his son had denied the Ombudsman's charges.

Their lawyer, Joey Salgado, said Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales "intends to spend her remaining months in office pursuing her obsession to prosecute" the Binays. —report from Rowena Salvacion/ALG, GMA News
