Ateneo condemns revival of fake Noynoy psych evaluation
The Ateneo Psychology Department has issued a statement condemning the revival of the issue pertaining to the fabricated psychiatric evaluation of former President Benigno Aquino III.
"We condemn how the good name of Fr. Jaime C. Bulatao, SJ was maligned in a recent reincarnation of fake news circa 2010 alleging that he had conducted a ‘psychiatric evaluation’ of former President Benigno C. Aquino III," officials said in the statement.
"We are re-releasing the 2010 statement of the Ateneo Psychology Department calling out this fake news. May our beloved Fr. Bu rest in peace," they added.
The department reposted a statement issued in April 2010, that referred to two incidents in wherein fabricated psychological evaluations on then-senator Aquino III were allegedly signed by the late Fr. Jaime C. Bulatao, SJ and Fr. Carmelo Caluag.
Bulatao had denied writing and signing a supposed psychological report saying Aquino suffered from depression in 1979.
Bulatao, one of the country's leading clinical psychologists, had died last February 10, 2015 at the age of 92.
In the same statement, the department also rejected the authenticity of a report supposedly signed by Father Caluag, who was neither a psychologist nor a psychiatrist and was never affiliated with the department.
