Ex-SBMA chair Martin Diño appointed DILG undersecretary
President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman Martin Diño as an undersecretary at the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
It was September last year when Duterte confirmed he offered an undersecretary post to Diño. It was Diño who claimed that he will be appointed at the DILG.
Diño’s appointment paper was signed January 8, Monday.
Diño was replaced as SBMA chair last year after Duterte issued Executive Order 42, amid a feud then with SBMA administrator Wilma Eisma. EO 42 repealed an Arroyo EO that separated the powers and duties of the SBMA chairperson and administrator.
"But I offered him (Diño) the undersecretary, ‘yun talaga sanay siya. Barangay captain, dito ka, ‘yun lang. Wala namang issue diyan," the President said of Diño then.
