Thousands of jobs await Filipinos abroad next year —POEA

Thousands of career opportunities in Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, China, and San Marino are opening up for Filipinos next year, according to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

Some 3,000 jobs are up for grabs in New Zealand for skilled and semi-skilled workers particularly in construction sector such as welders, foreman, engineers, among others, a report on 24 Oras Weekend by JP Soriano said.

"We're planning to deploy mga construction workers because of the rehabilitation efforts ng government of New Zealand during the last... 'yung kanilang earthquake," POEA officer-in-charge Bernard Olalia said.

For those interested to apply, Olalia said all they have to do is check the POEA's official website.

The POEA official added that competitive compensation package awaits those who will be hired in New Zealand.

Also in 2018, Japan will start rolling out their hiring after the governments of Japan and Philippines inked a memorandum of understanding.

This is under the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP), wherein possible jobs of around 100,000 for nurses and medical workers will be opened by the Japanese public and private sectors.

Meanwhile, the Republic of San Marino in Europe needs nurses and caregivers.

The POEA, however, said that San Marino has not specified yet the number of migrant workers they need.

Jobs for factory workers will also be opened in South Korea, while China is in need of skilled and semi-skilled workers in 2018.

POEA said that job orders are expected to be released next year.
