Duterte: Officials who went on unauthorized trips to be fired next week

President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday said he will fire public officials who went on trips without his permission.

During a speech in Davao City, the President issued the warning to certain corrupt government officials who went on unauthorized or unimportant meetings or seminars using public funds.

Not mentioning any names, Duterte clarified he did not want to humiliate the individuals and advised them to resign.

"For those guys who have been using money of the government just easily going in and out or travel upon the invitation of...maski sino na mga seminar, seminar. I have to ask them to resign if at all, kung gusto ko man, kokonti lang ang those important meetings," the President said.

"A number of them are lined up to be fired. Those who went out of the country to waste the money without permission of the authorities, in this case, the President, they have to go. But I dont make pubic my dismissals para naman... to spare them of the humiliation," he added.

He said he will order the officials' dismissal next week.

The President reiterated his low tolerance for corruption and threatened he would publicly "undress" them if he wanted to.

"Pahihiyain kita. I will undress you before the public. Huhubaran talaga kita. 'Yan ang sakit ko. Pahiyain kita. So when I say to you, you resign, go out silently. Para walang...less bloody para sa atin," he said.

In his speech, he said should have leveled down corruption in government by the third year of his administration.
