Duterte arrives for leaders’ meeting at venue in Da Nang

VIETNAM —President Rodrigo Duterte, who is in Vietnam,  arrives at the venue for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders' meeting in Da Nang.

Other world leaders who were also seen arriving included US President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

Duterte is expected to participate in the world leaders' roundtable discussion, where he would be meeting for the first time Donald Trump, who the Philippine President will be facing in a bilateral meeting on November 13 in Manila.

Last Friday night, Duterte skipped the gala dinner "due to pressing matters" at home, according to Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque.

This Saturday, Duterte will meet China's Xi Jinping in a bilateral talks,  where he is expected to bring up the issue on  the "militarization" of some disputed islands in the South China Sea.

Duterte is expected to be back in Manila before 11 p.m. Saturday.  —LBG, GMA News
