Arrested Indonesian Maute fighter now in Camp Crame


The arrested Indonesian who has alleged links with the pro-ISIS Maute group arrived at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City Wednesday evening.

PNP deputy spokesperson Superintendent Vimelee Madrid said Muhammad Ilham Syahputra was brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and is now undergoing routinary police procedure and documentation.

“Yesterday evening he arrived here and he is now at the custody of CIDG,” Madrid said at a press conference.

Syahputra is set to be brought to the Department of Justice for inquest.

He will be charged with rebellion, violation of Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulatory Act; violation of Explosive Act; violation of International Humanitarian Law.

Recovered from him were a fragmentation grenade; one piece .45 caliber pistol; one piece magazine with seven round live ammunition; one computer tablet; 10 pieces P1,000; 15 pieces P500 bills; two pieces P100 bills; six pieces 10 riyals; four pieces 100 dirhams; two pieces 10 Singaporean money; five pieces 5 Qatar Riyals; eight pieces 100 KSA Riyals; and seven pieces of gold bracelets.

Syahputra was arrested around 7 a.m., November 1, by joint elements of Marawi City Police Station-Intelligence Section; CIDG-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao; and Lanao del Sur provincial police office.

He was nabbed while authorities were conducting clearing operation in Barangay Luksa Datu, Marawi. — RSJ, GMA News
