Duterte formally appoints Año as DILG usec
President Rodrigo Duterte has officially appointed former Armed Forces of the Philippines chief General Eduardo Año as an undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Año's appointment paper was signed on the same day he retired, October 26. Malacañang released the letter on Friday.

On Thursday, during the turnover ceremony in Camp Aguinaldo, Duterte teased Año that he could start his work as DILG undersecretary on the next day.
Duterte wanted to appoint Año as DILG secretary, but the law prohibits police or military officers to take the post within a year after retirement.
Former Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno was fired during a Cabinet meeting in April over allegations of corruption.
Año was replaced by Lieutenant General Rey Leonardo Guerrero as AFP chief. —KBK, GMA News
