SAF commandos to miss AFP comrades in Marawi
Members of the PNP Special Action Force who saw action in Marawi City are happy to return to their families on Wednesday.
But according to Superintendent Rex Malimban, the SAF troopers who survived the five-month Marawi siege will also miss working with their counterparts in the Armed Forces of the Philippines in ridding the city of Maute-ISIS bandits.
"Well actually masaya po ang buong SAF at kami ay makakabalik na kami sa kanya-kanyang pamilya although doon po sa battlefield, naging maganda ang camaraderie ng both AFP at PNP," Malimban said.
"So nung naghiwa-hiwalay kami medyo may kaunting lungkot din po pero at least masaya kami na ligtas na makakauwi ang karamihan po sa amin," he added.
"The past five months po ang ating SAF troopers is working hand in hand sa AFP counterparts natin so kung ano naranasan ng counterparts natin, 'yun din ang naranasan ng ating mga SAF troopers, 'yung pagrescue sa mga hostages, pag-clear ng mga buildings," Malimban said.
SAF members were greeted with cheers by their loved ones and comrades-in-arms at their headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig earlier in the day.
Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa vowed to give them a one-month break after their success in the Marawi siege. —NB, GMA News
