Loren Legarda as next DSWD chief? ‘I’ll finish my term as senator’

Despite rumors she is being considered to be the next Social Welfare secretary, Sen. Loren Legarda is unlikely to leave the Senate anytime soon.

"I intend to finish my term as senator and serve as chair of finance, foreign relations and climate change committee," she said in a statement.

First elected to the Senate in 1998, Legarda is now on her third term as senator. Her current term ends in 2019.

Rumors earlier swirled that Legarda was among those being considered for the post vacated by former Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo, whose appointment was rejected by the Commission on Appointments last August.
