Solon seeks number coding exemption, free parking for senior citizens
Quezon City Representative Alfred Vargas is proposing granting senior citizens free parking and exemption from the number coding scheme for vehicles.
According to a report on Unang Balita on Monday, these additional privileges, if approved, would be added to the current benefits enjoyed by seniors.
Vargas filed House Bill 1816 in July 2016 to expand the present Senior Citizen Law.
Under the bill, a senior, either the driver or a passenger of his own car, should be exempted from color coding.
It also exempts motorists from paying parking fees in all establishments, if the driver or owner of the vehicle is a senior citizen.
"Through this initiative, we are providing our senior citizens simple economical benefits to reward their contributions to our country's development," the measure said. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/KG, GMA News
