JTF Marawi commander is new Army chief


Major General Rolando Joselito Bautista, the commander of the Army's 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Marawi, has been installed as the new commanding general of the Philippine Army.

Bautista replaced Lieutenant General Glorioso Miranda who will end his military career on October 8, after 38 years in service. The change of command ceremony was held Thursday at Fort Bonifacio.

Bautista, the 59th Army chief, is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Sandiwa Class of 1985.

Before his appointment as the commander of the 1st Infantry Division, Bautista was the commander of Joint Task Force Gensan in 2013 and 104th Brigade, 1ID in 2014.

He also held the post of Presidential Security Group commander in 2016. — RSJ, GMA News
