Lacson open to giving John Paul Solano protection

Senator Panfilo Lacson on Tuesday said he is open to the possibility of giving protection to John Paul Solano, one of the suspects in the hazing-related death of Horacio "Atio" Castillo III.

"Kung hingi siya ng protection, why not? Sa Senate habang nagte-testify siya rito," Lacson said in an ambush interview with reporters.

On Monday, the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs conducted a hearing on the death of Castillo where Solano was grilled by senators but refused to give further information on the incident.

Solano, who admitted being one of those who brought Castillo to the Chinese General Hospital, later agreed to tell senators what he knows in executive session after the public hearing was suspended at past 10 p.m.

Lacson refused to disclose the information provided by Solano.

"Hindi ako pwede mag-comment. Bound kami ng rules namin sa executive session. Once na-formalize nila ang affidavit nila, pwede na i-divulge kasi public document na 'yan," Lacson said.

Solano is facing complaints of murder, perjury, obstruction of justice, robbery and violation of the Anti-Hazing Law. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK/KVD, GMA News
