Protesters draw parallels between Marcos, Duterte

Another leader of a fascist regime? For several attendees of the protest actions against tyranny on Thursday, the answer is a resounding yes.

A large cube — dubbed "Rody's Cube" — was burned at Mendiola as part of the commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines.

One side had President Rodrigo's face and another featured the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos' portrait.

A fusion of the two also proved to be a popular protest image.
