NBI: Dental exam shows suitcase girl 'more like Dindin than Jessielyn'

The girl found stuffed inside a suitcase thrown into Manila Bay last August is a nearer match to the identity of seven-year-old Geraldine Palma than to that of 12-year-old Jessielyn Salvatierra. National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officials said this was the initial findings of the dental examination on the victim’s body, which was exhumed last Monday. QTV-11 on Sunday reported that the exam results indicated the body was “six to eight years old." However, the NBI has yet to release the results of DNA and fingerprint tests on the body exhumed from the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City. Manila police had said Geraldine might still be alive and might not be the girl inside the suitcase. They theorized that her nanny, Maritess Ontog might have spirited her away from her “negligent" parents. Meanwhile, the NBI said it is now verifying the claims made by a new “witness" in the case. The witness, whose name was withheld, said that on the day Ontog and Geraldine went missing, she received a text message that was apparently from Ontog. In that message, Ontog claimed 40 men abducted her and Geraldine, but she managed to convince one of them to let her use the phone. But the NBI doubted Ontog’s story, saying it still believes she may be held liable for the abduction. NBI Special Task Force head Arnel Dalumpines said Geraldine’s father, Gerald said Ontog could be behind the abduction because she left the house without informing him. But Dalumpines said they would wait for Gerald to submit his sworn statement before making further comments. - GMANews.TV
