STL operator links NCRPO, SPD chiefs to jueteng
A small town lottery (STL) company has accused National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde and Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Tomas Apolinario of protecting jueteng operations.
In a 24 Oras report by GMA News' Jun Veneracion on Friday, Happy Cool Games and Amusement Corporation presented a CCTV camera footage which showed that police had raided one of their STL stations.
Based on the intelligence report of the company, police generals were behind the raid.
"Since August 7, these police officers within the NCR, the Southern District have been raiding us for almost a week now. And we feel aggrieved, we feel harassed," said Angie-Leeca Sevila, legal counsel of the company, adding that the firm was accredited by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
During the raid, police allegedly seized their collections and arrested their employees.
Meanwhile, the company wrote a letter addressed to PCSO and Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa to investigate the incident and dismiss the police officers who supposedly protect jueteng operators.
"Although binabantaan na po ang aming mga buhay pero nananatili pa rin kami na alam namin kung ano pinaglalaban namin, alam namin ang katotohanan sa lahat ng ito," Sevila said.
Albayalde and Apolinario both denied the accusations, the report said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
