RAM members asked Duterte for amnesty to get backpay –Palace

Members of the Reform the Armed Forces Movement/Rebolusyonaryong Alyansang Makabansa (RAM) have asked for amnesty in their meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday in Malacañang, a Palace official said Friday.

During the day's Mindanao Hour briefing in Malacañang, presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said the RAM made the request to get their backpay.

“President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with the members of the Reform of the Armed Forces Movement (RAM) last Wednesday, August 16, where they expressed support and offered help to the President,” he said.

“They likewise asked the President for amnesty so that they could receive their backpay and livelihood opportunities for the members of the RAM,” he added.

Those who attended the meeting were Senator Gringo Honasan and other RAM officers including retired Captain Felix Turingan, resigned Captain Glen Agudo, retired Commodore Rex Robles, retired Colonel Marcelino Malajacan, Jr., retired Colonel Hernando Caraig, retired Colonel James Joven, retired Police Director Victor Batac, and Engineer Jegie Pereda.

Duterte was then accompanied by Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Office of the President Undersecretary Jesus Melchor Quitain, and Justice Undersecretary Erickson Balmes.  —KBK, GMA News
