Duterte threatens to bomb Lumad schools
President Rodrigo Duterte said on Monday that he would bomb the schools operated by the Lumads, alleging that these schools were teaching students to rebel against the government.
Duterte, at a press conference after his second State of the Nation Address and a visit with protesters outside the Batasan Pambansa, said that the Lumad schools had been operating without a Department of Education’s permit.
"Kasi eskwelahan nila, but they are teaching subversion, communism, lahat na. So umalis kayo diyan. Sabihin ko diyan sa mga Lumad ngayon, umalis kayo diyan. Bobombahan ko ‘yan. Isali ko ‘yang mga istruktura ninyo," said the president.
"I will use the Armed Forces, the Philippine Air Force. Talagang bobombahan ko ‘yung mga… lahat ng ano ninyo. Because you are operating illegally and you are teaching the children to rebel against government. May kalokohan kayo, eh di mas lalo na ako."
Duterte made his threat as he recalled the casualties communist insurgents inflicted on security forces; specifically, last March's New People's Army in Davao del Sur during which four police officers were killed.
"So kung ganoon, wala ring patawaran tayo. So I am ordering the military and the police, walang patawaran kasi hindi naman tayo pinapatawad," added the president. — DVM, GMA News
