Suspected Maute group member nabbed at Lanao Sur evacuation center

A suspected Maute group member was arrested at an evacuation center in Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur on Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the suspect as Lala Arafat, 38, a resident of Barangay Osmena, Marawi City.

Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao police director, said Arafat was nabbed at around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

Sindac said Arafat was positively identified as a Maute member by another arrested member of the local terror group.

Recovered from the suspect were 12 identification cards of various people and a mobile phone.

The suspect was brought to the police station for processing and custodial debfriefing.

Arafat was charged with rebellion or violation of Article 134 in relation with Article 136 or conspiracy. —ALG/KVD, GMA News
