Mariano 'poorest' in Duterte Cabinet with no declared real property


Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano is the poorest official in the Cabinet of President Rodrigo Duterte, according to his latest Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth.

In a document obtained by GMA News Online from the Office of the President, Mariano is the only Cabinet member who did not declare any real property as of December 2016.

His assets only include his clothing of around P35,000 and cash in bank of P238,629.58, bringing his total wealth to P272,693.58.

His fellow left-nominated official, National Anti-Poverty Commission Secretary Liza Maza is only richer by a few hundreds of thousands with P731,716 in net worth.

Meanwhile, the richest man in the Cabinet, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, has a total of P1.41 billion net worth.

The documents obtained by GMA News Online did not include the SALN of Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco, Special Assistant to the President Secretary Bong Go, and Special Assistant to the President Secretary Bong Go. —KG, GMA News
