Anonymous text led to arrest of suspect in Bulacan massacre

An anonymous text message to an official of a neighboring barangay led to the  arrest of the suspect in the massacre of a security guard's family in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

According to Cesar Apolinario's report on "24 Oras" on Thursday, the text received by the executive officer of Barangay Kapian detailed how a witness saw Carmelino "Miling" Ibañes washed blood off his clothes and himself after midnight.

Watchman Dexter Carlos' mother-in-law Auring Dizon, 58; wife Estrella Dizon, 28; and children Donnie, 11; Ella, 7 and Dexter Jr., 1, were found murdered at their home in Barangay Santo Cristo on Tuesday.

Auring and Estrella were also apparently raped as they were found without their clothes.

The text also stated that Ibañes locked himself away in an abandoned home as neighbors swarmed the Carlos' house after the bodies of the 5 victims were discovered.

"May nakakita sa kanya na may mga dugo kaninang madaling araw at naligo daw agad hindi mag sasalita ang mga kalapit bahay niyan kasi takot," read part of the message.

A relative confirmed the content of the text and said the 26-year-old man did take a shower after midnight.

"Oo, alas-kwatro, basta umaga na 'yun," a relative confirmed.

"Tinanong ko siya, sino 'yan? Sumagot siya, si Miling daw, naliligo, nainitan daw siya," said another.

The text further claimed that Ibañes was seen fleeing the scene of the murder with Ronald "Inggo" Pacinos, covered with blood.

"Yun pong tao na pumasok po galing sa bahay, katabing bahay lang po yung tinakbuhan. Nakashorts siya, puro dugo, tapos may hawak siyang kutsilyo na ganyan kahaba na kulay dilaw yung hawakan," said the witness.

Pacinos was invited by police as a person of interest with Carlos but was eventually let go despite the evidence of blood stains in the house where they slept as police still had no solid evidence against them.

Juanito Policarpio, the ex-o who received the tip, passed the text message to the police upon receiving it.

"Pinabasa ko dun sa intelligence. Nung binasa niya, okay yan, i-forward mo 'yan sa akin, finorward ko," Policarpio said. —Rie Takumi/NB/BAP/KVD, GMA News
