Alleged drug dealer Jun No planned to escape PHL using different identity –NBI

Korean-American drug suspect Jun No planned to escape to Malaysia using a different identity before he was arrested by government agents in Zamboanga City, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Friday.

No slipped from police hands on April 15 while recuperating at the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City after he was treated for acute appendicitis.

According to the NBI, No hid in different condominium units and motels in Manila, Parañaque and Makati cities from April 18 to 22 to avoid authorities.

No then stayed in Cebu City from April 29 to May 26, hopping from one hotel to another.

"While residing in the area, he spent most of his time with drug junkies and escort girls whom he used to hang out with. The NBI-Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (TFAID) chased the subject (No) in Cebu but managed to elude arrest on several occasions," the NBI said.

Still, the NBI said agents were able to recover some of No's personal belongings from his hotel unit in Cebu City, which provided an indication of his plan to leave the country using the backdoor going to Malaysia.

No then travelled to Zamboanga City using fake identification card and passport bearing the name Choi Min Soo.

Agents finally caught up with No on Thursday in a computer shop in Barangay Tetuan, Zamboanga City, while checking the money coming from his family.

No did not resist arrest, according to the NBI.

The Korean-American, who also carries the aliases Justine and Jazz, is facing drug trading charges before the Pasay City Regional Trial Court for selling 140 tablets of ecstasy at the parking lot of an Indian restaurant in the Mall of Asia Complex on April 5.

Criminal charges for violation of Article 172 in relation to Article 171 of the Revised Penal Code as well as violation of the Anti-Alias Law and Republic Act 8239 (Passport Law) will also be filed by the NBI against him.

The NBI will also check if there were people who helped No while he was on the run.

No is currently detained at the NBI headquarters in Manila. —KBK, GMA News
