Supposed Maute video shows 2 dead bodies inside damaged Army vehicle

Another supposed video of the ongoing armed conflict in Marawi City has surfaced on social media, this time showing a damaged armored personnel carrier (APC) with two dead people inside.

A report by GMA News' Jun Veneracion on 24 Oras on Thursday said the video was uploaded on Facebook by the same user who posted the appeals of residents held hostage by Maute terrorists.

Before this, a video showing a suspected Maute member blasting an APC with a rocket-propelled grenade was given to GMA News by a resident.

The report said the bandits in the shaky video were heard speaking in Taglog.

The military is still verifying the authenticity of the video, the report said.

"We are still validating the propaganda being circulated in the social media. Your armed forces is doing it's best to facilitate the release of trapped civilians and hostages," said Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, spokesperson of the Army's 3rd Infantry Brigade.

The Philippine Army also said the tank in the video is similar with its V-150

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa, for his part, said the police force has no missing tanks in Marawi.

"Hindi naman nawawala. Iniwan doon sumabog 'yung gulong nalaglag sa kanal. Hindi na maka manuever tapos wounded 'yung mga pulis natin na crew so nag-withdraw sila dahil heavy 'yung volume of fire nung kalaban," he said.

The new  video was posted in Amaq News Agency Facebook page, which was believed to be an account maintained by ISIS, with which the Maute group has pledged support.

Meanwhile, the report, citing sources, said the military used its FA-50 fighter jet — the most modern jet in its fleet — in Thursday's airstrike.

The day's airstrike, however, was noticeably toned down following the deaths of 11 soldiers in the previous day's airstrike, the report said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
