Indonesian firm sends PHL Navy’s 2nd landing dock vessel



The Philippine Navy on Wednesday received its second landing dock vessel, which the military said can beef up the Armed Forces' humanitarian assistance and disaster response capabilities.

BRP Davao del Sur arrived at Pier 13 in Manila's South Harbor from its Indonesian-manufacturer PT PAL. The ship can also serve as a military sealift and transport vessel.

The first landing dock vessel of the AFP, BRP Tarlac, arrived in the country in June last year and was purchased under the military's modernization program.

BRP Davao Del Sur has a length of more than 400 feet and has a payload capacity of around 2,800 tons.

The vessel has a maximum speed of 16 knots and a range of 17,300 kilometers. — Joseph Tristan Roxas/MDM, GMA News
