Painting depicting Bonifacio’s execution on display in Manila


As a tribute to "The Great Plebeian" Andres Bonifacio, a 1963 painting entitled "Ang Wakas ni Andres Bonifacio" by Carlos Valino Jr. depicting the great revolutionary's brutal execution in the hands of his fellow Katipuneros is on display in Manila City Hall on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

On this day, the nation commemorates the 120th death anniversary of Bonifacio, the Father of the Philippine Revolution against Spain.

According to some historical accounts, on May 10, 1897, Bonifacio, together with his brother Procopio, were stabbed to death on Mt. Buntis, Maragondon, Cavite under the order of Col. Lazaro Makapagal, a close ally of Emilio Aguinaldo. —LBG, GMA News
