Emotional Sueno bids DILG employees goodbye

An emotional former secretary Ismael Sueno bade goodbye Thursday to his personnel at the Department of Interior and Local Government, three days after he was sacked from his post by President Rodrigo Duterte over loss of trust and confidence.

Sueno cried when he was prayed over by Father Pio Sta. Maria and the DILG staff during the Mass.

In his speech during the send-off ceremony, Sueno said he cried because he thought the employees now see him as a corrupt person.

"Ang napasok sa isip ko na I am accused of being corrupt, baka iyon na ang tingin n'yo sa akin," he said to which the employees shouted, "No!"

He said he also cried because he is removing the hatred in his heart.

"Napaiyak ako dahil nawawala yung galit ko to anyone, kung sino man siya. That's why kanina hinahanap ko yung usecs natin na tatlo (John Castriciones, Jesus Hinlo, and Emily Padilla). If they are here, I have forgiven them, I love them," he said.

The three, however, were not present during the event.

He admitted that he was hurt that at the start of the Cabinet meeting last Monday, the President already confronted him of the issue.

"I tried to answer, hindi naman po pinakinggan. Sabi niya Sec. Sueno I am dismissing you now. Talagang nanliit ako," he said.

He clarified that he is not angry with the President, saying he still believes that only Duterte can solve the problem in Mindanao. — RSJ, GMA News
