Duterte’s ex-prof Jose David Lapuz named presidential consultant on education, int’l orgs 

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed his former professor, Jose David Lapuz, as presidential consultant on education and international organizations. 

He was appointed on February 17.

Lapuz was Duterte’s political science professor at the Lyceum of the Philippines.

Lapuz was one of those who gave a speech during Duterte's miting de avance at the Quirino Grandstand in May 2016 where he likened his former student to General Antonio Luna. 

After the elections, it was floated that Lapuz would be appointed as Commission on Higher Education (CHED) chairperson. The incumbent CHED chair Patricia Licuanan, however, remained in her post and is expected to hold the position until 2018.  — Trisha Macas/RSJ, GMA News
